As a high school student with major test anxiety, Denyse found peace in a yoga class at the age of 16. Its mindful practices resonated deeply with her, but she felt driven to do more in life. So yoga took a back seat as Denyse explored many career options – local cooking columnist, Berlitz teacher, travel agent and even an 11 pm – 5 am hostess shift at a busy Philadelphia area Howard Johnson’s.
Finally, a family connection and a love of foreign languages and cultures led her to a career that spanned almost 40 years in the aerospace and defense industry. Her career exposed her to many different types of people and places. Although, she often felt like she compartmentalized herself depending on the people she was with, Denyse was always fascinated by connections.
Her reflections in this blog are her attempts to integrate life experiences by bridging mind and heart and earth and spirit.
